Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur are all expected to vote in the first phase around February–March 2027, five years after their 2022 elections. Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat follow later in the year, closer to their own five-year terms ending in late 2027.
Uttar Pradesh is by far the largest of the seven — with over 400 assembly seats and the country's biggest voter base, it typically draws the most national attention and is often read as a bellwether ahead of the 2029 general election.
